Get help starting your child’s reading and writing journey with The Active Reader's Reading Kickstarter.

In this package you will receive:

• 15 minute virtual consultation where we assess your child’s current situation

• Seven virtual 1:1 sessions, 30 minutes each, over a period of 6 months

• Learning plan tailored to your child’s specific needs, updated from session to session

• Access to your instructor via email in-between sessions

Here’s how this will work:

Strong reading skills are the foundation for building your child’s confidence. In our Literacy Partnership, the signature program for parents, an Active Reader instructor will embark with you on a fun and rewarding journey to teach your child reading and writing and see their confidence grow week after week.

Over the course of at least 6 months, you will have seven sessions with your Orton-Gillingham trained instructor who will prepare and continuously adapt a learning plan tailored to your child’s evolving needs, and provide you with all the tools and feedback needed to help your child succeed in building strong literacy skills. The activities suggested by your instructors can be easily weaved into your busy everyday lives, transforming your home into a literacy rich environment.

Our instructors know how to make learning to read fun for your child and yourself. With our tools and strategies you will be able to play an active role in your child’s success while developing their love of learning and reading skills. 

The Consultation

In our 15 minute phone consultation we will gather all of the background information on your child and home life. From there, our instructors will create a tailored learning plan around your unique situation in preparation for your first 1:1 session.

The Literacy Partnership 1:1 Sessions

The 1:1 sessions of our Literacy Partnership program are tailored to you and your child so you can teach them the basics of reading and writing through scientifically proven methods that are fun, simple and engaging. 

Each of your sessions will build on the next, taking learnings, observations, wins and struggles to inspire the tailored learning plan. It is our goal to watch your child thrive and grow as a reader so you see real results that will be felt at home and seen by your child’s teacher in the classroom.

Through the course of our Literacy Partnership, we will do the following:

• Explain to you how a child best learns to read and write. 

• Explore our Early Reader Pack and how you can use this effectively.

• Provide you with a learning plan made by your instructor specifically for your child to put into action in your home.

• Help you build confidence to play an active role in your child’s success.

• Share with you the basic scientific concepts that simplify the learning to read process. 

• Show you how you can build learning into your day on the fly.

• Explore your learnings, observations, wins and struggles following the previous session and adjust our strategy to suit these learnings. 

• Focus on specific learning areas such as: reading, writing, speech, or spelling.

• Review how far your child has come along and send you off with suggestions on how to continue. 

Any parent is able to do this - our 1:1 session will set you up with what you need to know to help your child learn to read and write. 

Following your session, watch your child’s literacy skills transform before your eyes and see their confidence grow. 

What happens after you subscribe

After you subscribe to our Literacy Partnership program, you will receive an email with a link to book your initial consultation. After you have completed the consultation session, we will prepare a tailored learning plan for your child and book your first virtual 1:1 coaching session with you. Each subsequent session will be scheduled following the next.

Subscription Terms

The Literacy Partnership program is designed as an ongoing subscription that accompanies you as a parent throughout the literacy development journey of your child. The initial term of the subscription is 6 months. The program subscription will renew for subsequent 6-month periods unless it is cancelled prior to its renewal date. After your subscription has renewed, you will continue to receive one virtual 1:1 coaching session per month with your instructor.
You can cancel your subscription at any point in time through your account settings page to stop a renewal of the program. We do not offer refunds for any active subscription periods after the initial Consultation session.
